Why Chiropractic Care

Thank you for reading my first blog post last week.

Today I am going to share with you a bit more about why I decided to go into chiropractic care and how it can benefit you.

I was led to chiropractic care by a desire to help people lead healthier lives – with less pain, better functional abilities, and overall health through a natural and drug-free method of treatment. Chiropractic care creates the proper environment for healing to take place naturally.

One of the biggest misconceptions about chiropractic care is that people think that once they see a chiropractor they must keep coming in forever. While we do enjoy getting to know our patients, the truth is that my goal is to get you functioning on your own and in good health so you can enjoy all that the world has to offer.

While we treat people with a variety of issues – including injuries after car accidents – the most common question I get is about the “popping” noise made during adjustments. It’s like opening a bottle or can of a carbonated beverage. The pop is a release of pressure in the joint. The adjustment has several positive effects. It reduces pain, improves range of motion, decreases muscle tone and results in better function.

Being active – and even just being human – means we will likely experience injuries or have conditions that need to be addressed in order to lead a healthy, pain-free lifestyle. My goal is to address these issues as they occur and get people back to a place where they are functioning well. If that means coming back to see us, it’s because they realize the benefits of care and want to be in an optimal state of health, not because they “have to”.

I want to share with you a story about a patient I treated recently. For about six months, she was experiencing a low back condition that was not responding to other types of care, and she had nearly given up on ever feeling better again. She was hesitant about receiving chiropractic care for fear of it hurting or being “too invasive”. With a few treatments, starting very gently and well within her tolerance, we were able to provide significant relief and restoration of normal activities. This is exactly why I went into chiropractic care.

This is how I measure our accomplishments – by seeing patients reclaim their lives. My efforts have resulted in external recognition. I’ve been fortunate to receive “Top Doctor” recognition in Portland Monthly magazine for four years.
